Bhubaneswar: Three retired government officials in Odisha have been convicted in separate bribery cases in Odisha.
Nrusingha Charan Tripathy, former Revenue Inspector of Bonai Tahasil in Sundargarh district, was convicted for possessing disproportionate assets and sentenced to three years of rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs. 1,00,000.
Similarly, Arjun Chandra Sahu, former Statistical Clerk of Gudibandha PHC in Angul district, was convicted for demanding and taking a bribe. He has been sentenced to two years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine.
In another case, Laxmibai Guru, former CDPO of ICDS in Lanjigarh of Kalahandi district was sentenced to four-year rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 20,000 for demanding and taking a bribe of the same amount. She has been sent to jail custody to serve her sentence.
The Odisha Vigilance department will now move to stop the pensions of the convicted officials.
