Cuttack: Three persons have been arrested in connection with the death of the elephant who had suffered bullet injuries in Narasinghpur west range under Athagarh forest division of Cuttack district.
A special team of the forest department nabbed the three accused and also seized a country-made gun from their possession.
The three accused have been identified as Suryamani Nayak (42), Gangadhar Nayak (62), and Dibakar Sahu, all residents of Narasinghpur.
They had reportedly fired gunshots at the elephant as it was destroying their cashew plantation.
The elephant, found injured with five bullet wounds in Narasinghpur west range on June 7, had succumbed to its injuries on June 14.
