Three Including Woman Arrested For Demanding Money For Subhadra Forms In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: In two separate incidents, the Commissionerate Police arrested three individuals, including a woman, for demanding money from beneficiaries in exchange for SUBHADRA application forms.

The arrests were made based on complaints filed by Swarna Manjari Behera and Rajalaxmi Nayak, respectively.

In the first incident, Sasmita Jena (38) and her husband Ranjit Jena (36) were arrested for allegedly demanding money to apply for the SUBHADRA Scheme at a Common Service Centre (CSC) in Niladri Vihar under Chandrasekharpur police station. An investigation was conducted after a voice recording of the complaint was obtained as evidence.

Sasmita is a resident of Nuagaon under Dhusuri police station in Bhadrak while Ranjit belongs to Niladri Vihar area in Bhubaneswar.

In the second incident, Ratikanta Sahu, a resident of Housing Board Colony of Satyanagar under Kharvelnagar police limits was arrested for charging Rs 20 for the SUBHADRA application form at a CSC near Tosali Bhawan.

The CSC run by Sahu is not authorised to provide Subhadra forms was doing the same by demanding money from the public. It came to the notice of Kaharavela Nagar police who raided the place and arrested him after registering a case, DCP Prateek Singh said.

All three accused individuals have been forwarded to court.  Further investigations are underway.

Notably, the Subhadra application forms and its digitisation process are available for free of cost at Jana Seva Kendras and Mo Seva Kendras across the State.
