Cuttack: As many as three persons were killed, and two others were critically injured due to a head-on collision between a Bolero and a tanker near Rajakana Square on National Highway 16 in Cuttack.
According to reports, the Bolero, travelling from Sundargarh to Puri, lost balance and crashed into the divider before colliding with the oncoming tanker. As a result, three persons travelling in the Bolero died on the spot, while two others were critically injured.
Upon being informed, National Highway officials and fire brigade officials rescued the injured and rushed them to SCB Medical College and Hospital for treatment. The deceased were extracted from the wreckage with the help of cutters. The identities of the victims and injured are yet to be confirmed.
Tangi police have, meanwhile, seized the vehicles involved and initiated an investigation into the incident.
