Three Labourers Die Of Asphyxiation In Septic Tank In Cuttack

Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, two labourers died and another fell seriously ill due to asphyxiation while cleaning a sewage tank in an apartment at Trisulia in Odisha’s Cuttack on Friday. While the bodies of the dead have been sent for autopsy, the injured was rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital where he breathed his last.

According to reports, three labourers were engaged for cleaning a septic tank this morning. No sooner they entered the septic tank; all three fell ill due to suffocation. Hearing their cries for help, locals informed the Baranga Fire Services department.

By the time the Fire Services personnel could rescue them, two labourers breathed their last. The third was rushed to the hospital in a critical condition where he died during treatment.

The identity of the three labourers is yet to be ascertained.
