Three Labourers Killed As Heap Of Soil Caves In While Laying Pipelines In Jajpur

Bhubaneswar: As many as three labourers were killed after a heap of soil caved in on them at Kapila Rahansa under Binjharpur block in Jajpur district on Thursday morning.

The mishap took place when the labourers engaged by a construction company were laying pipelines. The deceased workers were from Bihar and Tamil Nadu.

As per reports, three labourers were buried when loose soil caved in while they were busy working. Locals rushed to the spot and rescued them. They were initially admitted to Binjharpur Hospital. As their condition became critical, they were shifted to Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital where they were declared dead.

It learnt that other labourers who sustained minor injuries in the mishap have been discharged from the hospital after first-aid treatment.

On a tip-off, police rushed to the spot and sent the bodies for post-mortem.

Police have begun an investigation into the matter.
