Boudh: In a tragic incident, three minor siblings died due to snakebites, while their father is critical and admitted to Boudh District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).
The incident occurred in Chariyapali village under Tikarpada panchayat in Odisha’s Boudh district on Sunday late night.
According to reports, two minor girls Sudhirekha Mallik (13) and Shubhrekha Mallik (12) came home from the hostel on Sunday to celebrate Nuakhai with their family. After the day’s celebrations, the family retired for the night in their bedroom. The two girls were sleeping with their younger sister Surbhi Mallik (3), brother and parents in the room when a poisonous snake bit them and their sister and father.
Matters worsened when the family sought the help of a sorcerer instead of rushing to a hospital. When the efforts of the sorcerer failed, the four – three sisters and their father Sulendra Mallik – were taken to the Boudh DHH.
While the doctors at the hospital declared the three siblings ‘brought dead’, their father was admitted in a critical condition. As his condition deteriorated, Sulendra was later shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital.
