Bhubaneswar: Three retired officers of Soil Conservation Department were convicted and sentenced to two years rigorous imprisonment in a corruption case in Sundergarh.
A special vigilance court in Sundergarh convicted two retired Soil Conservation Assistants- B. Kamaraj Behera and Rasananda Choudhury and a retired Jr. Soil Conservation Assistant Narendra Kalo U/s 13(2) r/w13(1)(c)(d)PC Act, 1988/409/ 468/477-A/34 IPC, for misappropriating the government money during plantation at Bangurkela by way of forging the vouchers/muster rolls.
The court also imposed a fine Rs 15,000 each.
Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for the stoppage of pension of these three retired officials following their conviction.
All were arrested by vigilance while they were working in the Gopalpur Range under Hemgiri Block in Sundargarh district.
