Bhubaneswar/Balasore: Three cases of alleged suicide have been reported across Odisha in the last 24 hours. Among the deceased persons, two were students and one was a teacher.
An engineering student identified as RN Niyati Nayak (24) reportedly committed suicide on Wednesday at Railway Colony in Chandrasekharpur area of Bhubaneswar when her family members were not in the house.
Nayak had completed her B Tech programme from Burla in Sambalpur. Though is it suspected that a family dispute was the reason behind her taking the extreme step, Chandrasekharpur Police has launched a probe to ascertain the truth.
In another incident, a college student was founding hanging inside a rented house at Shantipada in Balangir town late Wednesday night. The deceased has been identified as Ramnikant Khetri of Ulunda village in Sonepur district.
Ramnikant was a +3 second-year student of Commerce studying at Rajendra University in Balangir. He was living in a rented house at Shantipada. His friends found his body hanging from the railing inside the kitchen and informed the police.
Police recovered Ramnikant’s body today in the presence of his family members. A scientific team also arrived at the scene for investigation. His family alleged that he has not committed suicide but was murdered.
A Physical Education Teacher (PET) of Inchudi Labana Satyagraha Smruti Pitha school was found hanging inside a rented house at Inchudi village under Khantapada police limits in Balasore. He has been identified as Parsuram Sethi.
Though the reason behind the death is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the incident was a fallout of a love affair.
