Bhubaneswar: Three thieves were caught and beaten badly while they were trying to steal a motorised rickshaw at Sanauasa village under Bhograi police station in Balasore on Sunday night.

The thieves are reportedly from bordering West Bengal.

According to reports, the thieves stole the motorised rickshaw of one Puka Dalai of Sana Uasa village on Sunday night. Some relatives of Puka spotted them stealing away the three-wheeler. They immediately informed Puka who confirmed his vehicle was stolen.

His relatives captured the thieves and brought them to the village. Villagers tied them and assaulted them badly throughout the night.

Till the last reports came in, no police complaint had been filed.

Puka Dalai alleged that one of his rickshaws was earlier stolen. He suspected these thieves’ hand in the theft case.
