Three Women Killed In Lightning Strikes In Ganjam

Berhampur: In a tragic incident, three women lost their lives in two separate incidents of lightning strikes while they were working in fields in Ganjam district on Monday.

The incidents were reported from Sarabhimpur and Raulibandha villages under Chatrapur block .

The deceased have been identified as Kuni Gauda and Nirupama Gauda of Sarabhimpur, and Mini Gauda of Raulibandha.

According to reports, Kuni and Nirupama, who were relatives, were working in a field at Sarabhimpur when lightning struck killing them instantly. In a separate but similar incident in Raulibandha village, Mini Gaud died after being hit by lightning.

On being informed, local police and the Revenue Inspector rushed to the spot, conducted inquiries, and sent the bodies for post-mortem examination. Authorities said further investigation is underway.
