Balasore: A thug-duo active in Soro area of the district today looted jewellery worth several lakh rupees from a house in Baunsakhunta village under Sabira Panchayat.
According to reports, one Pujarani Tarei and her sister-in-law were allured by two youths to clean and polish their ornaments as new ones. They obliged and handed over the jewellery box to the duo
While cleaning the ornaments, one of them asked for water so, she went to fetch it while her sister-in-law was in the kitchen. It did not take a second for the thugs to flee the scene as Tarei returned with a glass of water.
On realising that their jewellery has been stolen, Tarei called up her husband Tapan Majhi who has lodged a complaint with Soro police. A manhunt is on to nab the thieves, the police said.
