Thunderstorm Alert For 20 Odisha Dists On April 14: IMD Issues Orange Warning

Bhubaneswar: As many as 20 districts in Odisha may witness thunderstorms with lightning, gusty surface winds reaching speeds of 50–60 kmph, and hailstorms tomorrow (April 14).

In this regard, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday issued an Orange Warning.

According to the midday weather bulletin, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at a few places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and at one or two places over Subarnapur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri districts on April 14.

On Tuesday (April 15), light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely in the afternoon/evening hours at a few places over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati, and at one or two places over Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri districts.

The IMD has also issued an Orange Warning for thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface winds reaching 40–50 kmph, very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening at a few places over Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Balasore, and Bhadrak districts.

From April 16 to April 18, the IMD has predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers in the afternoon/evening at a few places across various districts in Odisha.

Regarding temperatures, no major change in maximum (daytime) temperature is expected over the next 4–5 days across the districts of Odisha.
