Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued nowcast warnings for several Odisha districts for impending thunderstorms and strong winds within three hours.
As per the nowcast warning issued by the IMD at 7:20 a.m., Koraput and Malkangiri are expected to experience moderate thunderstorms with wind speeds of 40-50 kmph, lightning, and light to moderate rain within the next three hours. These thunderstorms could potentially cause minor damage to structures, banana trees, and crops.
These districts have been issued an orange warning.
Residents are advised to be prepared to take action and move to safer places if needed.
A yellow alert has also been issued for Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kalahandi, and Nabarangapur, where light to moderate thunderstorms with wind speeds of 30-40 kmph and lightning are expected.
Residents are advised to monitor the weather and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
