Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange warning for eight districts in Odisha, warning of thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) today.
As per IMD prediction, districts including Ganjam, Gajapati, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Sundargarh will be affected by the inclement weather.
Residents in these districts can expect heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds gusting up to 50-60 km/h.
Meanwhile, the rest of the state has been placed under a yellow warning, indicating possible thunderstorms and winds of 40-50 km/h.
Citizens are advised to take necessary precautions and stay updated on weather forecasts. The weather alert is expected to impact several areas, and people are urged to remain vigilant.
The IMD has advised residents to closely monitor weather updates and seek safe shelter during thunderstorm activity to avoid lightning-related incidents. Urban commuters are urged to follow traffic advisories, as gusty winds and heavy rainfall may disrupt travel. Farmers are recommended to judiciously regulate crop harvesting and deploy hail nets to protect vegetables and crops from potential hail damage.
On the other hand, the IMD has predicted there will be no significant change in maximum temperature likely for next five days, but temperature may rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius thereafter.
