Thunderstorm, Lightning, Hail Forecast In 8 Odisha Dists During Next 24 Hrs

Bhubaneswar: Thunderstorm with lightning, hail and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangapur, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Bolangir, and Nuapada and thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, and Bhadrak during the next 24 hours, India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said in its midday weather bulletin.

The IMD has issued a ‘yellow warning’ for the aforementioned districts.

Similarly, according to the IMD, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangapur, Rayagada, Nuapada, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha during the next 24 hours.

Besides, in its forecast for Bhubaneswar and its neighbourhood for the next 24 hours, the IMD has predicted that the sky will remain partly cloudy with the possibility of moderate rain or thunderstorm adding that maximum and minimum temperature is very likely to be around 40°C and 25°C respectively.

The IMD in its temperature forecast for the next five days has said that there will be no No large change in Maximum temperature (Day temperature) at many places over the districts of Odisha during the next 5 days. It is likely to be 42°C or more at a few places during the next 5 days over some districts of Interior Odisha (viz Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Boudh, Sonepur, Bolangir, Jharsuguda, and Bargarh). Consequently, hot and discomfort weather is very likely to prevail. People are advised to take precautionary measures while going outside during day time between (1100 IST -1500 IST), the IMD has warned.

Here is IMD’s weather forecast and warning for districts of Odisha for the next five days:

Day 1 (Valid upto 0830 hrs IST of 23.05.2023)

Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangapur, Rayagada, Nuapada, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and at one or two places over the rest of the districts of Odisha.

Yellow Warning:(BE UPDATED)

Thunderstorm with lightning, hail and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangapur, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Bolangir, Nuapada and thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 23.05.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 24.05.2023)

Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nawarangapur, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha.

Yellow Warning:(BE UPDATED) Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nawarangapur, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 24.05.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 25.05.2023)

Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Kandhamal, Nawarangapur and dry weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.

Yellow Warning: (BE UPDATED): Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Gajapati, Ganjam, and Kandhamal.

Day 4 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 25.05.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 26.05.2023)

Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Jajpur, Bhadrak also at one or two places over the rest districts of Coastal Odisha, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangapur, Kalahandi and dry weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.

Yellow Warning:(BE UPDATED)

Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kandhamal.

Day 5 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 26.05.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 27.05.2023)

Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj also at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Boudh, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.

Yellow Warning:(BE UPDATED)

Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Angul, Kandhamal.
