Thunderstorm, Lightning, Heavy Rain Predicted Over Odisha, SRC Issues Alert

Bhubaneswar: The Special Relief Commissioner’s (SRC’s) office has issued an alert to all Collectors in view of the yellow warning issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting thunderstorm with lightning and heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts from 8.30 AM tomorrow to 8.30 AM of Monday.

As per the yellow warning issued by the IMD, on Thursday predicting thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal.

Similarly, on Friday the IMD has issued a yellow warning predicting thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nawarangpur, Rayagada, Kandhamal.

Besides, on Saturday, the IMD has issued a yellow warning predicting thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two

places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Rayagada, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal.

In addition to the above heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Ganjam.

Moreover, on Sunday, the IMD has issued yellow warning predicting heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, and Bhadrak.

In view of the above, the State Emergency Operation Centre at SRC’s Office has issued an advisory to all Collectors to circulate the warning message among the public.

Collectors have been asked to closely monitor the situation and take action as deemed necessary in case of an eventuality.

It has further asked the Collectors to promptly report details of eventuality if any to the SEOC.
