Bhubaneswar: The regional center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here has issued a nowcast warning for 18 districts of Odisha till 5.00 pm on Sunday.
According to the nowcast, thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and light to moderate rain is likely in some parts of Koraput, Cuttack, Khurda, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Nuapada, Balangir, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Keonjhar during the next three hours.
People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rain/thunderstorm has occurred at most places of coastal Odisha and a few places in interior Odisha with heavy rainfall at one place over the district of Ganjam in south coastal Odisha. Hailstorms with gusty surface wind have reported in the afternoon at Gopalpur having a maximum dimension of about 1.1 cm (approx.) on Saturday.
The maximum temperatures observed an appreciable rise at one or two places over the districts of north Interior Odisha, a marked fall at one or two places over the districts of Odisha, an appreciable fall at a few places over the districts of Odisha and no large change at elsewhere over the districts of Odisha. They were markedly below normal at most places over the districts of interior Odisha, at many places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, appreciably below normal at one or two places over the districts of Odisha, below normal at one or two places over the districts of Coastal Odisha and normal at one or two places over the districts of Odisha.
