Bhubaneswar: The local Station of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded an alert for 13 districts with a forecast of thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40 to 50 kmph during the next 24 hours.
According to the IMD, the districts – Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj will experience mildly extreme weather conditions.
Lightening with thunderstorms is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput, and Nawarangpur. A Yellow Warning has been issued for all the above 21 districts.
On the other hand, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm are very likely to occur in many places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and at a few places over the districts of Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangpur and at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha, the IMD stated.
