Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange warning pertaining to – Thunderstorm with lightening, Hail and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30 to 40 kmph, at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, and Ganjam.
“People are advised to keep watch on weather and take safe shelter during the thunderstorm activity to protect from lightning and follow traffic advisories in urban areas. Harvesting of Rabi crops may be regulated judicially,” the IMD bulletin stated.
Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Interior Odisha and at one or two places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, it added.
Similarly, yellow warning has been issued for Angul, Dhenkanal, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh and Gajapati districts for thunderstorm with lightening and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30 to 40 kmph.
“Over the next 24 hours – thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Deogarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, and Boudh,” the IMD informed.
