Thunderstorm With Lightning Predicted In 18 Odisha Dists, Heavy Rainfall In 9

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, and Kandhamal during the next 24 hours.

During the next 24 hours heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Malkangiri, Koraput, and Nawarangpur, the IMD has warned furher.

The IMD has issued a Yellow Warning for the aforementioned districts.

Besides, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Odisha during the same period, the IMD added.

Here’s the IMD’s weather forecast and warning for the next five days:

Day 1 (Valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 17.08.2023)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts Odisha.

Yellow Warning (Be updated) Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Keonjhar Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, and Kandhamal.

Heavy Rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangpur.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 17.08.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 18.08.2023)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of Odisha.

ORANGE WARNING (BE PREPARED) Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Angul, Sambalpur.

Yellow Warning (Be updated) Heavy Rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Deogarh, Bargarh, Boudh, Sonepur, Nawarangpur, Malkangiri, and Koraput.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 18.08.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 19.08.2023)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of Odisha.

ORANGE WARNING (BE PREPARED) Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Bolangir, Nuapada, Nawarangpur, Malkangiri, Koraput.

Yellow Warning (Be updated) Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati,Sonepur, Boudh, Rayagada, Cuttack, Sambalpur, Bargarh, and Jharsuguda.

Day 4 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 19.08.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 20.08.2023)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Odisha.

Yellow Warning (Be updated) Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangpur, Nuapada, and Bargarh.

Day 5 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 20.08.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 21.08.2023)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few Odisha.
