Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department has issued orange and yellow warnings for several Odisha districts, predicting moderate thunderstorms and lightning.
As per the nowcast warning issued by the IMD at 2:10 PM, a moderate thunderstorm with lightning and surface winds of 40-50 kmph is expected in Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur within the next two to three hours. These districts have been issued orange warnings. This may cause minor damage to loose structures, banana trees, and standing crops.
Residents are advised to secure loose items, keep a close watch on weather conditions, and be prepared to move to safer places if necessary.
Meanwhile, Nabarangapur, Rayagada, and Koraput districts are expected to experience light to moderate thunderstorms with gusty winds of 30-40 kmph, lightning, and light to moderate rain within the next three hours. These districts have been issued yellow warnings.
Residents are cautioned to be aware of potential lightning strikes and take necessary precautions.
