Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of thunderstorms with lightning in 19 districts of Odisha during the next 24 hours.
According to the IMD, thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nawarangpur, Kalahandi, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Mayurbhanj, and Keonjhar and hailstorm is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Nawarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput also thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Bargarh, Keonjhar, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Bolangir during the next 24 hours.
The IMD has issued a ‘Yellow’ alert for these districts.
Similarly, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur in a few places over the districts of Nuapada, Nawarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha, the IMD has said in its forecast for the next 24 hours.
In its forecast for Bhubaneswar and its neighbourhood for the next 24 hours, the IMD has said that the sky shall remain partly cloudy with one or two spells of Rain or thunderstorm. Maximum and Minimum temperature is very likely to be around 39°C and 27°C respectively.
The weather agency has said that there shall be no large change in Maximum temperature (Day temperature) at many places over the districts of Odisha. It is likely to be 42°C or more at one or two places over the districts of interior Odisha during the next 5 days.
