Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday issued an Orange Warning at 5.35 PM, urging residents in six Odisha districts to prepare for moderate thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds within the next two to three hours.
The affected districts include Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada, Bargarh, and Bolangir.
According to the nowcast warning, the region is likely to experience surface winds reaching speeds of 40-50 kmph, accompanied by light to moderate rainfall. The weather event may cause minor damage to loose or unsecured structures, banana trees, and standing crops. The Meteorological Centre has advised residents to remain vigilant, monitor weather updates, and be prepared to move to safer locations if conditions worsen.
“People are advised to keep a watch on the weather for worsening conditions and be ready to act accordingly,” said the IMD in the warning.
