Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nowcast warning for several districts in Odisha, alerting residents to potential thunderstorms with gusty winds and lightning in the next three hours.
According to the nowcast warning issued by the IMD at 2:30 PM, some parts of Angul, Boudh, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Koraput, Balangir, Subarnapur, and Nuapada districts are likely to experience moderate thunderstorms with wind speeds reaching 40-50 kmph and light to moderate rain within the next three hours.
Angul, Boudh, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Koraput, Balangir, Subarnapur and Nuapada have been issued orange alerts.
The IMD has warned of potential damage to loose structures, banana trees, and standing crops. Residents are advised to be cautious and keep a close watch on the weather, moving to safer places if conditions worsen.
Additionally, Gajapati, Nabarangapur and Rayagada districts are expected to experience light to moderate thunderstorms with gusty wind speeds reaching 30-40 kmph, lightning, and light to moderate rain within the next three hours. These districts have been issued yellow warnings.
