Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional office here has forecast light to moderate thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and light to moderate rain in some areas of Puri, Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur districts within the next three hours. A yellow warning has been issued for these districts.
The weather office has advised people to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
An earlier forecast by the IMD said thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind with speed reaching up to 40-50 kmph is likely to occur at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sonepur, Bolangir, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Kandhamal districts.
Moreover, thunderstorms with lightning are likely to occur at one or two places in Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Jharsuguda and Nuapada districts.
