Baripada: Tiger Census in the Similipal Tiger Reserve (STR) in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha commenced from 6 AM today and will continue for the next seven days.
Reportedly, the tiger census is being done using camera trapping and other latest technologies. More than 500 camera traps have been installed at different places in Similipal.
It is to be noted that the tiger census is done once in four years. As per the 2018 census, there are 28 tigers in the two tiger projects – Similipal Tiger Reserve and Satkosia Tiger Reserve – in Odisha.
