Bhubaneswar: A tiger has been spotted in the Samakopa area under Narayan Prasad section under Kantamala range in Boudh forest division, leaving villagers in a state of panic.
The big cat’s pug marks and faeces were found in the forest, and a cow’s mauled body was discovered nearby, sparking fears that it may have been killed by the tiger.
The forest department is tracking the tiger’s movement, examining the pug marks and faeces to determine whether it is a leopard or a Royal Bengal tiger.
Villagers are living in fear, with one resident saying, “We are in the grip of panic for the last five days due to the movement of a tiger in our local forest. One cow was also killed and eaten by the big cat. We are afraid to venture out of our homes, even during the day.”
The forest department has been urged to track the tiger and drive it out of the locality.
