Bhubaneswar: A tiger attack has sparked fear in Dumiriguda village under Muniguda forest range in Rayagada district. A calf belonging to a villager, Kunja Behera, was reportedly killed by a tiger on Wednesday afternoon.
The forest department team investigated the scene after the family reported finding the calf’s bones and blood.
The large pugmarks found at the scene have led villagers to suspect it could be a Royal Bengal tiger or a leopard. The Muniguda ranger, Praveen Dash, has warned people to avoid the forest and nighttime outings. The department is aware of tiger presence in the area and is investigating the incident.
“We’ve installed trap cameras in the Muniguda range and will determine the truth once the footage is available. We request the villagers to remain alert and stay away from venturing into forest,” said Dash.
