Bhubaneswar: To ensure safety and smooth movement of devotees during the New Year celebrations, tight security measures have been put in place for Puri town and the Shree Jagannath Temple, as informed by Puri SP Vinit Agarwal.
Speaking to the media on Saturday, SP Agarwal stated that the police have implemented strict security arrangements for both devotees and tourists visiting the holy town.
“Ahead of the New Year, we have made necessary security arrangements in all areas, from inside and outside the temple to the sea beaches and traffic zones, ensuring a smooth experience for visitors,” said SP Agarwal.
He also mentioned that devotees coming from Bhubaneswar will park their vehicles at Jail Road Parking and Saradha Bali. Devotees arriving from Konark will park at Talabania Ground, while those coming from the Brahmagiri area will park at Jatrika Parking.
“Certain areas like Medical Chowk, Lighthouse Chowk, Subhash Chowk, and Achrya Hari Haro Chowk will be designated as no-vehicle zones. Only two-wheelers will be allowed, while four-wheelers will be restricted. I request all devotees to cooperate with the Puri police and follow traffic rules,” added the SP.
Additionally, SP Agarwal informed that CCTV cameras will be installed across Puri city to monitor the security situation. A control room will also be set up to manage the crowd effectively. Special teams will be deployed at Puri Beach, with police patrolling the area and live guards stationed to ensure the safety and satisfaction of tourists visiting the beach.
