Bhubaneswar: The Tigiria police arrested three individuals involved in ganja smuggling at Nuapatna village in Cuttack district and presented them in court on Saturday.
The arrested suspects were identified as Siddiqui Ahmed Khan and Mohammad Tayyab from Tigiria, along with Tapaswini Digal, a woman from Kandhamal district.
According to reports, the Tigiria police, acting on a tip-off, raided a house behind the Nuapatna post office. During the operation, the smugglers turned violent, first misbehaving with the officers and then vandalizing their vehicles. This escalated into a clash between the police and the smugglers.
While attempting to escape, the police managed to arrest two men and one woman involved in the smuggling.
“The remaining suspects will be arrested soon and strict action will be taken against all those involved in this illegal activity,” said Cuttack Rural SP Prateek Singh.
