Asthgarh: Tigiria’s Gadjata queen Rasmanjari Devi passed away on Sunday evening at her residence at the age of 96. She has been suffering from old age problems for quite some time.
Rasamanjari Devi was the wife of last king of Gadajat regime late Brajaraj Birabar Kshatriya Champatisingh Mohapatra. She was the last independent queen of Tigiyagarh and represented the Asthgarh constituency as a Janata Dal MLA from 1977 to 1980.
As the news of her death spread, gloom descended on Asthgarh. Her last rite is likely to be performed on Monday, sources said.
Meanwhile, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday moved a condolence motion in the House on the demise of former MLA Rasmanjari Devi.
