Balasore: A woman was allegedly beaten to death by her drunken husband at Singhsahi village under Oupada block in Balasore district, on Thursday night.
The deceased has been identified as Gurubari Singh and the accused has been identified as Pandu Singh.
According to sources, Pandu Singh (50) had made it a habit to return home in an inebriated state and physically abuse his wife, Gurubari. The frequent domestic violence culminated in the tragic incident on Thursday night, resulting in Gurubari’s death.
Pandu, accused of beating his wife Gurubari to death, had previously broken her hand in a separate incident of domestic violence, sources revealed.
Oupada police led by IIC Shravan Kumar Maharana, on a tip-off, reached the spot and launched a probe into the matter.
The deceased’s brother said, “Pandu is a habitual offender. He did not even leave her face once he started beating her. We found him sitting near the Gurubari’s body when we reached here. On asking, he told me that he had not killed Gurubari. He should be taken into police custody.”
