Baripada: In a shocking incident, a 50-year-old man allegedly stoned his elderly parents to death at Dhanapal under the Baisinga police station in Mayurbhanj district.
The deceased have been identified as 80-year-old Hadibandhu Sahu and 72-year-old Shanti Sahu.
According to reports, Himanshu, who is allegedly a habitual drunkard, had been living with another married woman at Manatri, about 3 kilometres away from his home. He would often visit his parents’ house and quarrel with them.
On the fateful night, Himanshu arrived at his parents’ house in an inebriated state and started quarrelling with them. In a fit of rage, he allegedly killed his ailing and bedridden father first and then brutally killed his mother by pushing her down the stairs and hitting her with a large stone.
Neighbours spotted the bodies of the couple today morning and informed police.
Baisinga police team, along with a scientific team, rushed to the crime scene and started investigating.
Police also arrested Himanshu when he was found sleeping on the veranda in an inebriated state and seized the stone used in the murder.
