Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, an octogenarian was beaten to death by his son at a place under Raikia police limits in Kandhamal district, on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Hadia Pradhan while the accused has been identified as Rukesh Pradhan.
According to sources, Rukesh returned home in a drunken state. Both Hadia and Rukesh got engaged in a verbal fight over some issues. An enraged Rukesh attacked his father with the help of an iron rod. This led to the death of Pradha.
On a tip-off from villagers, police seized the body and sent it for post-mortem.
Police, meanwhile, detained the accused son in this connection and began an investigation.
