Bhubaneswar: A man allegedly murdered his wife in a fit of rage induced by alcohol addiction
at Fatakara village under Paintula police limits in Bolangir district, on Thursday night.
The victim, identified as Mamata Chhanda, was found dead with severe injuries to her neck.
According to reports, Mamata’s husband, Abhijit is a habitual drunkard. Abhijit’s liquor addiction led to regular disputes and tension between the couple. On the fateful night, Abhijit returned home in an inebriated state, leading to a heated argument with Mamata. In a moment of rage, Abhijit allegedly strangled his wife to death.
The couple, who had been married for eight years, had two young children together.
On a tip-off, police reached the spot and took Abhijit into custody. Police are investigating the matter further.
