Jagatsinghpur: A doctor and a pharmacist were brutally attacked by a group of miscreants at the Deriki Primary Health Centre under Naugaon block in Jagatsinghpur district last night.

According to reports, the incident occurred late on Tuesday night when five youths, allegedly in an inebriated state, were creating a ruckus near the medical facility. When the doctor, Sagar Nayak, and the pharmacist, Mihir Lenka, asked them to vacate the place and refrain from creating a scene, the miscreants attacked them.

Dr Nayak sustained injuries on his neck, while Lenka’s left hand was badly hurt. The attackers, however, managed to flee the scene.

Though a complaint has been filed at the Naugaon police station, no arrests have been made so far.

The incident has sparked widespread resentment, with locals expressing outrage over the police inaction.

The police have launched a manhunt for the accused who attacked the miscreants.
