**Bhubaneswar**: Trinamool Congress MP Sudip Bandopadhya’s wife Nayna on Monday said her husband is in the “custody of Modi” and not in the “CBI’s by alleging her hubby’s arrest was a result of Centre’s political vendetta.
Speaking to reporters here, Nayna, who is also an MLA, said, “Sudip does not know why he is arrested, what is his fault? For me Sudip is in Modi’s custody.”
“If they (CBI) extend Sudip’s custody, then also I will consider that my husband is sent to Modi’s custody again,” she claimed.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday again got four days remand of Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay in connection with the Rose Valley chit fund scam.
Meanwhile, the special CBI court has approved the remand of TMC MP against eight days sought by the CBI.
The TMPC MP was produced before the court after his six-day first phase remand ended on Monday.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Special CBI Court sent Bandyopadhyay to six-day CBI remand. Bandyopadhyay was arrested by the CBI for his alleged involvement in the scam. He was arrested hours after he appeared before the CBI for interrogation in connection with the scam. Before being taken for the interrogation, Bandyopadhyay, took a veiled attack at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), stating that he was arrested because of his opposition to the demonetization drive.
“This (arrest) is the result of my role in Lok Sabha,” he said. Bandyopadhyay’s arrest had unleashed intense clash between the BJP and TMC workers in various parts of West Bengal. Stones were pelted at the BJP headquarters in Kolkata, leaving several of its workers injured.
