Bhubaneswar: A two-year-old baby boy died of snakebite at Astaranga police station on Monday night.
According to sources, Asha Behera of Balidia village under Astaranga block had come to file a complaint with Astaranga police against her in-laws. Asha was not on good terms with her in-laws. After villagers failed to resolve the dispute between Asha and her in-laws, Asha went to the police station. On the fateful day, when Asha was busy filing her complaint, Asha’s baby boy was playing on the police station premises. It was when the toddler was bitten by a poisonous snake.
The baby boy was rushed to the Astaranga Health Centre and later shifted to Capital Hospital where she was brought dead.
The death of the toddler sparked tension at the police station as the deceased boy’s parents staged a dharna in front of the police station demanding compensation.
