Cuttack: Thirty three Congress activists, including office bearers of Cuttack City Mahila Congress, Cuttack City Congress Committee and Cuttack City Youth Congress, joined the BJD at the residence of Barabati-Cuttack MLA Debashish Samantaray here on Sunday.

Prominent among them are general secretary of Cuttack City Mahila Congress, Sultana Begum; vice-president of Cuttack City Congress Committee, Ratnakar Pradhan and vice-president of Cuttack City Youth Congress, Sk Abid.

The members expressed the interest to join BJD alleging the Congress is ignoring the minorities in Cuttack and has become a puppet in the hands of land mafia, in absence of proper leadership and prevailing infighting within the party.

Privatisation of the Cuttack City Congress Committee, involvement of the committee's president in various criminal activities and sidelining the leaders who are good in party organisation, are few other reasons that forced the members to join the ruling party.
