Jajpur: A total of 98 persons have been arrested till date in connection with various cases on election-related violence in the first three phases of polling in Jajpur district.
Among them, 69 persons were arrested yesterday while the remaining persons had been held earlier in different election-related cases including attacks on journalists and police.
Binjharpur Police arrested 12 persons for their involvement in the violence in Bachhala gram panchayat, and four persons who indulged violence in the electoral process in Jari area.
Mangalpur Police arrested 11 persons for the same offense in Dasarathpur Block. Balichandrapur Police arrested seven persons who indulged violence in the electoral process in Balichandrapur and Nalipur gram panchayats.
Sadar Police arrested 13 persons for the same offense in Sujanpur and Erbanka gram panchayats. Seven persons who indulged violence in the electoral process in Akarapada gram panchayat have been arrested by Jajpur police.
Panikoili Police have arrested eight persons for their involvement in poll violence in Goleipur gram panchayat. Likewise, seven persons were arrested by
Dharmasala Police for the same offense in Deoda and Arabala gram panchayats.
Further raids and interrogation is continuing.
