Puri: A tourist from Hyderabad has gone missing after being swept away by strong waves while bathing in the sea at Puri on Saturday. The incident took place near Chaitanya Chhak beach in front of his wife and son.
The missing tourist has been identified as Vikash Chand, who had come to Puri with his family for a visit.
According to reports, Vikash entered the sea for a bath when a powerful wave dragged him into deep waters. His family members raised an alarm as they helplessly watched him being swept away.
Lifeguards deployed at the beach, along with personnel from the Fire department, immediately began a search operation. Despite continuous efforts, no trace of Bikash has been found so far. The search operation is still underway.
Authorities have once again urged tourists to remain cautious while bathing in the sea, especially in areas where strong currents are common.
