Bhubaneswar: Prabeen Kumar Hota, Assistant Engineer (A.E), Electrical, Tata Power Southern Odisha Distribution Ltd (TPSODL), at Boriguma in Koraput, who was earlier arrested by Vigilance on graft charges has been found in possession of assets which constituted 246% of his known sources of income.
Hota had been caught by Vigilance on February 24 for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs 10,000 from a complainant (helper on outsourcing basis) at Boriguma Electrical Section, in order to facilitate continuance of his contractual engagement.
He was forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Jeypore, on February 25 and subsequently sent to jail.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches were conducted on February 24 at the following places;
1) Residential house Semiliguda, Koraput.
2) Triple storeyed building at Semiliguda.
3) Residential rented house at Boriguma, Koraput.
4) House at native village Digapada, Kodala, Ganjam.
5) Office room at Boruguma.
After a thorough search, inventory, and further enquiry, the income, expenditure, and assets of Hota were calculated and he was found in possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income to the tune of Rs 2,02,10,709 which constituted 246% of his known sources of income.
As he could not account for it satisfactorily, another case was registered against Hota and his father on March 11. As he is in jail in connection with the earlier case, Vigilance has submitted the remand report.
