Tractor Runs Over Elderly Farmer In Mayurbhanj, Dies

Baripada: A farmer was killed on Tuesday after he was run over by a tractor near Pandupala on the Manitri-Betnoti road under Badasahi police limits in Mayurbhanj district.

The deceased farmer has been identified as 73-year-old Bhim Charan Singh of Askanda village.

According to reports, Bhim Charan while returning home after completing farm work on his farmland was resting under the shade of a tree on the roadside. Goutam Sethi of Pandupala village, who was driving his tractor hit Bhim Charan and dragged him before crashing onto an electric pole.

In the process, Bhim Charan was left critically injured with a profusely bleeding leg.  He was rushed to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Betnoti. However, he was declared dead by the doctors at the CHC.

Badasahi Police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
