Bhubaneswar: Puri police on Monday issued a traffic advisory ahead of the Zero Hour celebrations on December 31, 2025, and New Year 2026. To ensure smooth traffic flow and effective crowd management, 60 platoons of police personnel are set to be deployed across the city.
Puri SP Prateek Singh briefed 122 newly recruited Home Guards and NCC students on crowd control measures, human chain management at barricades, and other safety protocols to manage the anticipated rush during the celebrations.
Traffic Guidelines:
Four-Wheelers (Cars):
- Vehicles from the Brahmagiri side will take a right turn at Mangalaghata towards Sterling Chhak and proceed along Beach Road to Lighthouse Chhak to park at Yatrika. Once Yatrika parking is full, vehicles heading to Seabeach will use designated parking near Sterling Chhak.
- Vehicles from Bhubaneswar will go to JBPC parking via Batagaon, New Bypass Road, and Shree Setu. When JBPC parking reaches capacity, cars will be diverted to Jail Road parking via Batagaon and Atharnala.
- If Jail Road parking is also full, LMVs will be sent to Saradhabli Open Ground via Batagaon, Atharnala, Medical Chhaka, and Badasankha. In case of heavy congestion, vehicles may be diverted from Malatipatapur ROB to Talabania parking via Baidas Nagar and Grid Station Chhaka.
- Vehicles from the Konark side will be directed to Talabania Open Ground via Baidas Nagar, Toshali Sands Chhaka, Grid Station Chhaka, and Bhudan Chhak.
Two-Wheelers (Bikes):
- Two-wheelers from Bhubaneswar will enter Grand Road via Atharnala, Banamber Chhak, Kumbharapada PS, and Hospital Chhaka, parking at Municipality Market Complex on a first-come, first-served basis.
- When this parking is full, they will be diverted to designated eastern-side areas along Grand Road. Further overflow will be redirected to Old JBPC via Kumbharapada PS, Harijana Sahi, Jatiababa Chhak, and Narendra Kona. Exits from these parking areas will be via Souchalaya Chhak, Devi Ghat, and Mangalaghata.
- Two-wheelers from Brahmagiri and Konark sides have separate designated parking areas at Old JBPC and Municipality Market Complex, respectively, with clearly marked exit routes.
Three-Wheelers:
- Three-wheelers from Talabania to Hospital Chhak will use Water Works Road, Odisha Bakery, Ram Mandir, Ghoda Bazar, and Red Cross Road. After dropping passengers, they will return via Red Cross Road, Ghoda Bazar, Ram Mandir, Shree Khetra Colony, and Mangala Mandir.
- Vehicles heading towards Seabeach from Talabania will be allowed only up to Town Hall Chhak via Penthakata Chhak, CT Road, Youth Hostel, Urban Hata, Zilla School, and SCS College Chhak.
- Three-wheelers are restricted around the Temple and certain key roads, including:
- Lion’s Gate from Solakhia Baragachha Chhak (Balisahi Road)
- North Gate from Biseswari Temple
- Lion’s Gate from Mochi Sahi Chhak and Brusav Chhak (Lokanath Road)
Puri police have urged motorists to strictly follow the advisory and cooperate with authorities to ensure safe and smooth celebrations during the New Year.
