Bhubaneswar: With the annual Rath Yatra drawing lakhs of devotees to the Holy City, the Puri Police on Tuesday issued a detailed traffic advisory to ensure smooth vehicular movement and systematic parking arrangements.
The guidelines outline separate routes and parking facilities for vehicles approaching from different directions.
From Brahmagiri Side (Four-Wheelers)
Light motor vehicles (LMVs) arriving from the Brahmagiri side will be permitted up to the Sterling side via Mangalaghat and Sterling Chhak. Parking will be available in the following sequence:
- Roadside near Sterling Chhak
- Sterling Chhak (Right Side)
- Sterling Chhak (Left Side)
- SCS College Ground
From Bhubaneswar Side (Four-Wheelers)
Vehicles from Bhubaneswar will be directed to the Talabania parking area through Malatipatapur ROB, Baidas Nagar, and the Grid Station. Parking will be available at:
- OLA Guest House
- Helipad
- ITI College Ground
- Indoor Stadium
- Horticulture Field
- Hygienic Fish Market
Once Talabania is full, vehicles will be diverted to the Sterling side via Malatipatapur – Batagaon – Mangalaghat.
From Konark Side (Four-Wheelers)
Vehicles from Konark will also be guided to the Talabania side through Balighai, Baidas Nagar, and the Grid Station. The same sequence of parking spaces as the Bhubaneswar route will apply.
Two-Wheelers (All Sides)
- From Brahmagiri and Bhubaneswar: Two-wheelers will be allowed up to the Old Jagannath Ballav Parking (OJBP) on a first-come, first-served basis. After that, additional parking will be available at:
- Matitota Helipad Ground
- Matitota Playground
Return routes will vary:
- From Brahmagiri: via Mangalaghat
- From Bhubaneswar: via Jatiababa Chhak – Kumbharapada PS – Atharanala – Batagaon
- From Konark: Two-wheelers will be allowed up to Blue Flag Beach and Hotel Neelachal Ashok via Baidas Nagar, Grid Station, Helipad, Pethakata Chhak, CT Road, and Subash Bose Chhak. Return will be through the same route.
Important Note
Vehicles will not be permitted on the ROB road from Baidas Nagar Chhak under any circumstances.
The police have urged devotees to cooperate and follow the traffic regulations strictly. Adequate signage and personnel will be deployed to guide motorists and ensure safety.
