Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths today arrested an OMVD Traffic Inspector working at the office of RTO in Talcher and forwarded him to court for possessing huge amount of unaccounted cash.
The anti graft officials also seized Rs 24,27,900 from the possession of Jitendra Kumar Behera.
On reliable information regarding collection of huge cash, the vigilance team kept a close watch on the movement and activities of Behera.
On Thursday night, the team intercepted him near Trinath Bazar at Balianta in Bhubaneswar, while he was proceeding from Talcher to Astaranga in a Skoda Rapid car (OD33-T-3839). During interception, Rs.11,19,150 was recovered from him which he could not account for satisfactorily.
The entire cash was seized. Soon after the interception, simultaneous searches were conducted at a rented residential house at Talcher, house at native village Astaranga and house of his brother located at Paradeep.
Further, cash of Rs 3,08,750 and 336gm gold from rented residential house at Talcher and cash of Rs.10,00,000 from his house at Astaranga were unearthed.
With this, total cash seizure comes to Rs.24,27,900 which he could not account for satisfactorily.
In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance registered a case under section 7(a)/13(2) r/w 13(1)(b) Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
