Bhubaneswar: In a bid to improve traffic management and ease congestion, the Commissionerate Police of Bhubaneswar-Cuttack has announced the reinstatement of traffic updates via FM radio channels. This service, which was previously discontinued, will soon be available again to assist daily commuters in navigating the busy roads of Odisha’s twin cities more efficiently.
Commissioner of Police Suresh Singh Dev Datta Singh stated that this initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance urban traffic management amid the rapid growth of the region.
“After consultations with all stakeholders, we have decided to collaborate with various FM radio stations to broadcast timely traffic updates. Previously, these updates helped commuters by informing them of congested areas and suggesting alternative routes. Although the service was halted, we are now reviving it based on positive feedback and coordination between traffic police, radio broadcasters, and commuters,” Singh said during a media briefing on Saturday.
The Commissioner added that the cooperation between the traffic department, FM channels, and the public will create a more informed commuting experience, ultimately leading to smoother traffic flow.
This move is expected to significantly benefit residents and commuters, providing real-time information that will help reduce traffic snarls in the twin cities.
