Bhubaneswar: A woman aged about 32 years, from Athmallik area of Angul was allegedly abducted and sold in Madhya Pradesh on the pretext of employment. The woman was rescued by a team of Angul police from Pathari village in Tikamgarh district of Madhya Pradesh on Saturday.
The police have arrested four persons involved in the crime and forwarded them to the court of SDJM, Athmallik on Sunday.
The police acted on the basis of a complaint lodged by the victim’s father on July 20. The complaint stated that three days after Raja festival, his elder daughter left home saying she has got a new job.
Later, the man was informed by a woman over the phone that his daughter has been abducted by a man from Boudh and sold her to a person in Patharai village in Tikamgarh district of Madhya Pradesh.
Based on the information, Athmallik police set up a team and initiated a probe. During the investigation, it was found that two persons from Boudh abducted the woman with a promise of providing her work and later sold her off.
