Tragic Accident Claims Lives Of Couple In Odisha’s Balangir District

Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, a couple died on the spot after being hit by an unknown vehicle near Patrapali Chowk, coming under Muribahal police station limits of Balangir district on Wednesday morning.

The deceased couple, identified as Gambhir Rana and Gita Rana of Patrapali village, were rammed by a motorist on their way to the paddy field located in Ghantabahali village through the national highway.

The accident also claimed the life of one of two buffaloes accompanying the deceased couple.

After learning about the incident, agitated villagers apprehended the vehicle, blocking the National Highway and demanding compensation for the family of the deceased couple.

The local police officials with the Tahasildar of Muribahal with magistrate responsibility have reached the spot to pacify the agitated villagers.
